Hi! I’m Olivia, the artist and founder behind Salthaus Studio—my creative space inspired by the beauty and culture of the Carolina coast. Through painting and design, I aim to capture that peaceful, salty-sweet feeling you get when the tide is low, the light is golden, and life feels simple again.

 

I am originally from Durham, North Carolina, but for as long as I can remember I spent my summers between Carolina Beach and Salter Path. I’ve always felt most at home near the water, the coastal landscape has always been both my muse and my reset button. I paint to preserve those moments—and to share a little bit of that stillness with others.

 

I graduated from East Carolina University in 2024 with a degree in Marketing, but my love for the arts began in the classrooms of Durham Public Schools, thanks to the incredible teachers who nurtured my creativity from an early age. It started with visual art lessons from Ms. Moo and music classes with Mrs. Hilliard in elementary school, and continued through high school with advanced chorus and visual arts under the guidance of Mrs. Spencer and Ms. Stotesbury. One day, I hope to find success great enough to give back to the North Carolina public school arts programs that helped shape the person and artist I am today.

 

By day, I work in marketing, but Salthaus Studio is where I get to experiment, play, and connect back to what I love most: creating. My work includes original paintings and prints available to purchase, as well as custom watercolor art and stationary. One of my next goals is to launch a monthly Print Club where members receive an new art print along with the story and inspiration behind the piece before it is ever released on the website. Each print is included in the monthly subscription, giving members first access to new work.

 

When I’m not painting, you can usually find me researching new marketing ideas, sipping on a matcha latte or a hugo spritz, creating the perfect Spotify playlist, or listening to 94.9 The Surf.
